PMA Legacy

We are a family-orientated martial arts club who are open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels.  Our foundation is Lau Gar Kung Fu and we are affiliated with the British Kung Fu Association.  This gives us the basis to build on our kickboxing techniques using many of the traditional methods.

Pro Martial Arts was founded by our Chief Instructor Tracy Edghill having realised his dream of opening his own martial arts club and was officially opened in March 2013 by Master Yau, the keeper of the Lau Gar style.

Tracy had a wealth of knowledge in the health and fitness industry having been a personal instructor and trainer for over 20 years but his experience and energy came from his passion for martial arts.

He was so dedicated to Kung Fu; spending many years studying the art form and techniques of the style, achieving his 5th Degree Black Belt and appointed as one of the Lau Gar Guardians by Master Yau.  The Guardian’s mission is to represent, promote and develop the style of Lau Gar Kung Fu for the benefit of current and future generations of students which Tracy excelled in doing.

He expected the best out of his own students only because he gave nothing less himself.

Lau Gau Kung Fu gave Tracy the foundations and groundwork for the sport of Kickboxing and in his lifetime achieved many National, British, European and World individual and team titles.  He is highly respected within the sport and was a formidable fighter on the circuit.

Students, parents, friends, training partners and competitors held him in such high esteem as they valued his understanding of the traditions which upheld the techniques of Kickboxing.

Whatever Tracy put his mind and hand to, he did with 100% dedication and commitment so he could continue to learn and achieve his own personal goals.  To improve his own mind and body and this is the underlining mission that Pro Martial Arts has for all their members.

He achieved his Degree in Computing late in life which again highlights his perseverance to accomplish and be successful.  He was a talented guitarist and in a band too!  He could also fix a car or two having been a roadside mechanic in his earlier working life before deciding he didn’t like being outside in the cold, wind and rain! And this was the start of his career in the health and fitness industry and the road to his dream …

Sadly, we lost our friend and mentor in January 2014 and he leaves a big void in the lives of family and friends.  His devotion to the martial arts world is an inspiration to us all.  He is fondly remembered by all for his sense of humour, his cheeky smile and that laugh …

Our Lau Gar Guardian Robert Francis (5th Degree Black Belt), alongside our senior instructors Chris Collymore (3rd Degree Black Belt), Neville Palmer (3rd Degree Black Belt) and with the help of our 1st Degree Black Belt instructor Jamaine Brown continue Tracy’s legacy and dream at Pro Martial Arts.
